IO Interactive is expanding Agent 47’s dossier with the release of Hitman Freelancer mode today, as it has renamed its latest game: Hitman World of Assassination.

Fans eager to play the new Hitman game mode can now get a better estimate of when they will be able to start their virtual assassination careers, as developer IO Interactive has updated its followers on this very subject.

Here’s what you should know about the Hitman Freelancer release time.

Hitman Freelancer release time

The January patch that will bring the new Freelancer mode to Hitman should now be appearing to download on most systems—it was made available for download at 1pm CET or 12pm UK time.

IO Interactive is working on updates for the game’s servers, which must be in maintenance mode for players to connect.

If you want to know the current ETA for when Hitman Freelancer is back online, then according to Twitter – 5pm CET (4pm UK time) is when it should be up and running again.

However, IO has warned that it may extend the maintenance window if problems arise during the update. It will then post an update on its official Twitter account.

We’ll provide more information as it becomes available.

The game will be automatically patched for owners of Hitman 3/Hitman World of Assassination on Switch when it’s released.

Hitman Freelancer is an entirely new way to play Hitman—a rouge-like mode where you must build up your arsenal of gear before a hit by taking on missions, earning money and being careful how you use it.

You will also get to build up a base of operations, but it is possible for you to lose equipment in the field. Think of it as a sort of Hitman Career mode—as opposed to your usual story game.

As of today, Hitman 1 and 2 have been removed from Google Play. That’s because their content is being rolled into the new title Hitman: World of Assassination.
