The game Choo-Choo Charles is a popular horror indie experience that puts players in the role of a train operator, who must survive against the relentless onslaught of the demonic antagonist, Choo-Choo Charles. To survive against this formidable enemy, players must know how to upgrade their train’s Speed, Damage, and Armor.

Speed affects how fast the player’s vehicle is able to travel along the world’s static train track, while Damage determines the power of the weaponry that players use to prevent Charles from chomping away their flesh. The third stat of the players’ train is Armor, which corresponds with how much Train Health is lost whenever Choo-Choo Charles lands a strike at the caboose.

Collecting and spending Scrap is the primary way of upgrading the players’ train Armor in the horror indie experience of Choo-Choo Charles. Scrap is distinguishable as a metal grate leaning on a slab of concrete atop a white metal sheet with two warped bars on top. The two bright yellow circles lying on each side of the white metal sheet make it easy to identify. Players should always be on the lookout for Scrap whenever they are exploring the dark and horrific world on foot. Scrap can be found on the ground outside, inside interior areas like mines and buildings, or atop objects, such as crates, blocks of concrete, or minecarts.

Once players have found enough Scrap, they can return to their train and interact with the Blueprint Table to upgrade their trains’ Armor. This table sits on the right wall near the exit to their vehicle’s weapon holder. Players can see their upgrade progression, with Armor at the bottom, and they can decide which stat requires the most attention. Balance is key when spending Scrap in Choo-Choo Charles, as maxing out Damage first can result in a swift demise during an attack if Armor is not upgraded as well.
